An Evening With Jackie Kay

Last month, I was honoured to host and chair a special conversation at this Durham Book Festival event, An Evening With Jackie Kay, where she read from her PBS-recommended new Bloodaxe collection, May Day. The also night featured a special reading of Romalyn Ante's AGIMAT.
It was my first time chairing an event. Go big or go home, as they say! Between the poems and serious book talk, we found time for giggle or three, as you can see. I've never been more wowed by a poet or had more fun at an event, not least when Jackie spotted the AI subtitling transcription for the live stream thought we were saying Bernadine 'Burrito' not 'Evaristo'. Maybe the accents, eh? A gift for the audience and us, we were all in stitches.
Thanks for such a gorgeous evening, Jackie! It was magic.
